Glendyn Ivin
Director Profile
Glendyn Ivin was 25 when he quit a successful career in graphic design to study documentary filmmaking at Melbourne's prestigious Victorian College of the Arts.

Six years later, he carried off the Palme D'Or for Short Film at the Cannes Film Festival for his first dramatic work, "Cracker Bag". Visit the Crackerbag website for more details.

An Exit Films production, "Cracker Bag" was made during a 4-month break from Glendyn's award-winning work as a TVC and music promo director.

"Commercials are such a good way to learn the craft and try ideas. Just being on set so often with crews and actors, and doing so much post-production, you just can't get that working exclusively on films," he says.

A fusion of design expertise and documentary styling, Glendyn's direction pays close attention to visual composition while capturing authentic and original performances.

His range is demonstrated by a body of work that includes his award-winning VCA graduating film 'Neverland', based on the subculture of bicycle couriers, TVCs including the character-based Darren and Grant campaign for Maggi, music promos for You Am I, Eskimo Joe and Magic Dirt, and internationally-acclaimed "Cracker Bag".
Glendyn was nominated for an MADC Best Film Direction Award in 2002, won the Channel V Right Clip for his Magic Dirt promo Pace It, and took out the Times Asia Pacific Award for his work for Heinz Soup.
